In addition to providing direct services to victims, Women Are Safe, Inc. works to prevent violence against women through community education and outreach.

About Us

We provided 3031 safe bednights to victims in 2020.

Women Are Safe, Inc. began in 1987 as a volunteer effort to provide shelter and safety to victims of domestic violence in Hickman County, Tennessee. Today, we have nine volunteer board members, an Executive Director, Program Assistant, three advocates and a DCS Liaison dedicated to our mission of serving the immediate needs of domestic violence victims in five rural Tennessee counties.

Over half of our shelter occupants are children.

Each year we serve hundreds of victims through our core services: a 24-hour confidential crisis line; safe, temporary shelter; court advocacy; transportation; education about the dynamics of domestic violence; support groups; referrals to community resources; and advocacy.
